Read enough Dressage theory, and you will eventually hear the term, "Legs without hands - hands without legs." The extreme interpretation of this is the mantra of the French school of Dressage. And one might conclude that the German school of Dressage is what promotes using hand and leg aids at exactly the same time - therefore giving the horse conflicting aids.
