Most horses are a work in progress. As they age, they tend to mellow a bit (sometimes), and become more confident and wise. They are also (hopefully!) more educated and further along in their training. It should then follow that riders are constantly adapting to the changes in their horses. But I find riders often have a hard time letting go of old "baggage", and tend to ride the horse that they used to have. Which means the horse will tend to revert back to the way he used to be.
