Tip/Quote of the Day # 268
A common cause of knockdowns in the show jumping is the rider being too "handsy" in front of jumps. The more you fuss with the bit in the last few strides, the more you take your horse's focus off of the jump. Try to keep your contact as consistent as possible to allow your horse to stay focused on the top rail of the jumps as you approach them.
